Definition for word: Root Barricade
A plastic barrier, typically installed 3ft.-5ft. from a house foundation, that helps to prevent tree roots from causing foundation damage. When some tree species extend their roots close to the house, they can remove so much water from the soil that the soil settles and/or shifts, causing the foundation to crack. A root barricade helps to prevent this from happening. A roof barricade normally extends about 48in. deep.
